CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE ACCIDENT CASE31
A concrete pump truck with its outriggers extended is being
used to pour concrete at a construction site at which the foundation is
relatively weak.
A worker is casting the concrete by supporting the boom end (nozzle). |
The outriggers of the truck suddenly sank into the ground, causing the truck to tilt and the nozzle to swing. The worker was injured from being crushed between the nozzle and the wall frame.

| Tips for preventing similar accidents
| 1. |
Check the location where the concrete pump truck is going to
be parked ahead of time, and take measures to support a weak foundation, such as
placing steel plates under the outriggers. |
| 2. |
Based on the premise that it is easy for the pump trunk nozzle to swing, take measures so that the nozzle workers can stay safe even if the nozzle swings unexpectedly, such as placing scaffolding planks where the worker works. |
