CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE ACCIDENT CASE16
| Logs are being collected using a bulldozer. To extend the tow
wire from the winch of the bulldozer, the operator is trying to start the engine
from the step, without actually sitting properly in the operator's seat. |
As soon as the operator started the engine, the bulldozer started to move backward, crushing the rear worker between the machine and the collected logs.

| Tips for preventing similar accidents
| 1. |
Before leaving the operator's seat, be sure to set the lock
brake and shut off the engine. |
| 2. |
When starting the engine, check the area around the machine and be aware of other workers. Call out a warning before turning the engine key. |
| 3. |
If you must start the engine while other workers are nearby, assign someone to serve as a guide. |
