At a distribution center, a load being transported on a forklift tilted forward
and became unstable when the vehicle started to go down a ramp.
The operator is trying to turn the forklift around on the ramp so that he can go down the ramp backwards. |
While trying to turn the forklift around on the slope, the forklift lost its
balance and fell over, pinning the operator beneath it.
| Tips for preventing similar accidents |
| 1. |
Always approach inclines, whether ascending or descending, from straight on. Never cross inclines diagonally. |
| 2. |
To change direction, return to a flat area first. |
| 3. |
When you have poor visibility in front, or when going down a ramp, lower the load to the lowest position possible, and go down the ramp in reverse. |
