To paint the beams (4m high) inside a factory, one worker is driving a forklift forward, while another worker is standing on a pallet that is raised up on the forklift.
The worker on the pallet lost his balance and fell to the ground.
| Tips for preventing similar accidents |
| 1. |
Do not stand on loads or pallets.
If work must be performed on a pallet, ensure that the machinery is in a location where it is not at risk of tumbling over, install handrails or a frame of an adequate height around the pallet, take necessary measures such as securing the pallet to the forks, and ensure that the worker uses a safety belt. |
| 2. |
Use appropriate machines and equipment, such as aerial work platforms and scaffolding. |
